Lokalise integration

Connect seamlessly to your Lokalise account to enjoy an even faster and more efficient localization experience.

How does the integration work?

The integration pulls your translatable content from Lokalise to Smartcat, either manually or automatically on a schedule. Once you configure the integration, you’ll have access to all of Smartcat’s tools for managing your localization project, including the option to translate content using a specialized editor, assign translators, and oversee workflows.

Once translations are complete, you can push the files back to Lokalise with a click of a button or on a schedule.

How do I use the integration?

1. In Lokalise, create an API key with read and write permissions.

2. In Smartcat, enter the API key from step 1 and choose the project you want to integrate with.

3. Choose the languages and workflow settings (e.g. machine, human, or hybrid translation) and wait for the sync to complete.

4. Translate the content using Smartcat.

5. Sync the translated documents back with a click.

You can also set up the integration to automatically push back translations once they are completed or even when partially done. This can be of assistance if you have a hybrid machine/human workflow and need quick access to machine-translated content.

How do I benefit from the integration?

Once the integration is set up, you can continue enjoying Lokalise’s rich API ecosystem while benefiting from Smartcat’s advanced features. In particular:

  • You can find and hire translation providers from among 500,000+ translation vendors listed in the Smartcat marketplace (Lokalise offers six), thus saving money and getting better results.

  • You can use Smartcat’s billing & invoicing functionality to pay all your translators with a single invoice and transaction.

  • You can try dozens of machine translation vendors (Lokalise has three), so you can get better machine translation results depending on your content type.

  • You can work with editors and proofreaders in addition to translators and configure hybrid machine-human translation workflows.
