1
Find Smartcat AI
Open the Microsoft Teams app store or Microsoft Marketplace and search for Smartcat AI.
2
Add the app
Admins click Add, review the permissions and confirm. Members can self-install from Apps if org policy allows, or request admin approval.
3
Choose where it works
Install it as a personal app for one-to-one chat, or add it to a team or channel so it works in group conversations too.
4
Sign in
Use the welcome card or type login. Sign in with your Smartcat business account — or create one from the sign-in dialog.
5
Check or switch accounts
Type status to see the connected account and services, or logout to sign out. If your workspace differs from the web app, the bot offers to switch.
6

Smartcat AI works alongside your team across the whole localization workflow — from researching new markets to translating content to tracking costs and performance. All from a Teams chat.
1
Attach a file and name the languages
Attach a document — Office, PDF, XLIFF or subtitles, up to 50 MB — and specify target languages. The agent sets up the project and delivers results in chat.
2
Research any topic in depth
Need to understand a new market, regulation or trend? The agent searches, reads and synthesizes multiple sources into one report.
3
See the full picture
Generate visual reports with KPIs, charts and breakdowns — usage, translation spend, team performance — and share them with stakeholders from Teams.
4
Get answers instantly
Ask about features, supported formats, workflows and best practices. General questions work before you even sign in.
5
Finish in chat or in Smartcat
Long-running work posts a completion notification with a link to your results. Your conversation is saved in Smartcat, so you can continue it in the web app.
Translate faster
Skip the export-upload-download loop. Drop a file into chat, name the languages, and AI-powered translations in 280+ languages come back where you asked.

It lets you talk to your Chief of Staff — your personal Smartcat AI coworker — directly in Microsoft Teams. Ask questions, research information, create content, build automations and manage your work without switching to the Smartcat web app.
Anything your Chief of Staff can do in the Smartcat chat. For example:
Get it from Microsoft Marketplace or search for Smartcat AI in the Teams app store, then click Add. Admins manage availability under Teams admin center → Teams apps → Manage apps, where they can pre-approve it for members.
The app is free to install. General questions about Smartcat work without an account. File translation, analytics, reporting and deep research need a Smartcat business account.
Yes. Smartcat is built for business teams, so sign-in requires a work email — personal Gmail or Outlook accounts aren’t supported. Need an account for your team? Contact us.
You can attach Office documents, PDFs, XLIFF and subtitle files, up to 50 MB per attachment. Smartcat translates them into 280+ languages and returns the result in chat.
Yes — add the app to a team or channel. Your Chief of Staff responds to your messages there, but replies arrive as one finished message instead of streaming as they do in a personal chat.
Teams has no threads, so your personal chat is one continuous conversation. Type clear, reset or new conversation to start fresh when you switch topics.
Smartcat is SOC 2 compliant. Your data is exclusively yours and encrypted at rest and in transit. Each person signs in with their own account and only ever sees their own data.
