Translate the courses you already published

Upload a published SCORM package. Get every language back: layout, media, and interactivity intact. No source files, no rebuild, no authoring-tool license.

Scorm studio - Smartcat scorm-studio

Frozen course library? Translate the package you have.

Once a course is exported and uploaded to your LMS, adding a language has always meant tracking down source files and rebuilding from scratch. SCORM Studio skips that step. Upload the exported package, the file you actually have, and get it back in every language you need.

Translated, not rebuilt.

SCORM Studio doesn't rebuild your course, it translates it. Layout, media, and interactions come back exactly as they were. Depending on the format, that includes subtitles, voice-over, and localized images too. The old workaround was a string export — the text came out, the context didn't, and someone reassembled the course by hand.

The tool your course was built in can be gone. The course still works.

We work from the exported package itself, so a discontinued authoring tool or a missing license doesn't stop you. Even legacy Adobe Captivate exports that nobody can open anymore go through cleanly.

Built for the teams who own the course library

1

L&D / Training Manager: stop rebuilding, start translating

Most L&D teams own dozens of published courses locked in one language, because adding a language always meant a rebuild. SCORM Studio removes that step entirely, so your library can finally reach every market it was meant for.

2

Localization Manager: SCORM stops being the file nobody can touch

A published SCORM package used to arrive in the localization queue as an untranslatable blob, exported strings if you were lucky, a rebuild quote if you weren't. Now it flows through the same TMs, glossaries, and review workflow as everything else you translate.

3

Compliance / Training Ops: mandatory training doesn't wait for a rebuild

When the tool a compliance course was built in is discontinued, the course itself doesn't have to freeze with it. SCORM Studio works from the exported package, so training stays current and multilingual even when the original authoring tool is gone.

4

Instructional Designer: need to edit, not just translate?

Smartcat's Flexible Editor converts a published course into a fully editable format so you can change layout, content, and images directly, no reopening the original tool required.

Translating SCORM courses, answered

Do I need the original source files or authoring tool?

Neither. SCORM Studio reads the exported package straight from your LMS or archive, which is the one file you reliably still have. You don't need the project file, and you don't need a licence for whichever tool produced it — so a course whose source sits on a former contractor's laptop, in a vendor archive, or nowhere at all can still be translated.

Which authoring tools are supported at launch?

Courses published from iSpring Suite, EasyGenerator, Adobe Captivate (both Classic and Modern exports, including versions that can no longer be opened), Absorb Create, and CEGID — formerly Talentsoft and e-doceo. Coverage is expanding as more formats are onboarded.

Will it change or rebuild my course?

No. The process is non-destructive: the package keeps its original format, and the course is translated rather than reconstructed. Layout, media, navigation, and interactivity all come back as they were, and depending on the format, subtitles, voice-over, and localized images are translated too.

How is this different from exporting the text and translating that?

A string export gives you the words and throws away the context. Layout breaks once a language runs noticeably longer than the source, media stays in the original language, interactions go untested, and somebody has to reassemble the course by hand — so what you get back is a reconstruction, not your course. SCORM Studio works on the package itself, so what you download is what you uploaded, just multilingual.

Does it use my translation memories and glossaries?

Yes. Because it runs on Smartcat, each course goes through the same translation memories, glossaries, and review workflow as the rest of your content. Your training library ends up consistent with everything else your company publishes instead of drifting off on its own.

Who checks the translated course before it ships?

You keep the final say, and you don't have to click through sixty slides to exercise it. Smartcat's AI coworkers review the translated layouts, flag anything that looks wrong, and escalate the judgment calls to whoever actually owns the content — which is where quality tends to slip when a person is reviewing module after module alone.

What if my course was built in Articulate Rise or Storyline?

Rise and Storyline courses go through Smartcat's existing Articulate workflow, which is separate from SCORM Studio today. Get in touch and we'll point you at the right path for those files.

What if my format isn't on the list?

Send us a sample package. We'll tell you precisely what's covered now and when the rest is expected, so you get a straight answer either way rather than a maybe.

Can I edit the course afterwards, not just translate it?

Yes, using Smartcat's Flexible Editor, which turns a published course into a fully editable format so you can change layout, text, and images directly. It's available for Articulate courses today. Translate the package as it stands, or convert it and take full control.

Is SCORM Studio available now?

Yes, it's generally available and already in your Smartcat workspace.

Is Smartcat affiliated with Articulate, Adobe, or the other tools named here?

No. Smartcat is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise associated with Articulate Global, LLC, Adobe Inc., iSpring Solutions, Easygenerator, Absorb Software, or CEGID.
