My name is Vanessa Walsh and I'm currently working as a freelance translator and language teacher in Bavaria, Germany. I have an MA in Translation Sciences from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and a BA from Queen's University in Canada in Foreign Languages and Intl. Studies (French/German). I grew up in Ontario, Canada, and English is my mother language. I have many years of immersion in my source languages, years of uninterrupted translation experience, and an excellent command of English, my target language. I specialize in medical translation. Further experience includes literary, academic, website, and business/marketing translation, and I have translated several documents including novels, academic papers, scripts, business plans, and more, from FRA-ENG and DEU-ENG. I also work with technical translations and/or post-editing.

I am an extremely responsible person and possess almost 5 years' experience in the world of translation, during which I have gained excellent mastery of texts and topics in many areas. I have a M.A. degree in Russian language, literature and linguistics from the University of Arizona, and my translations are read by undergraduate university students across the United States in the pages of _The Russia Reader_ (Duke University Press, 2010). I have also completed three years of German-language study at the University of Arizona. I worked extensively for over four years on the Russian 2014 Winter Olympics Project by translating a variety of documents, ranging from press releases and brochures to technical construction diagrams of the Olympic facilities. If you watched any of the English-language broadcasts of the Opening Ceremony on February 7, 2014, then you would have heard some of my translations of the speeches of officials as read by the TV commentators. I have also contributed translations of marketing materials that advance the business goals of major companies active in both Russia and Germany. For example, last fall I translated the annual report of a major Russia-based steel producer targeted at investors.
