I have worked in-house as a PM and a translator both in Canada and in Argentina. I have been working with agencies around the world (China, US, Canada, France, etc.) for more than 15 years. Apart from having a translation degree, I have studied philosophy at the university, which provides me with additional tools that allow me to understand texts in depth and, most importantly, find the most accurate translation for every term because, after all, what is translation but giving a thing the precise name designated by a culture for it?

Native Spanish speaker, born in Colombia Wide experience in general translations, I perform human translations and proofread them with the help of online dictionaries and some existing resources we have available in modern language services industry, in order to maintain the flow, meaning, quality and accuracy of the original text. In my spare or leisure time I try to perform translations for NGOs and NPOs in order to contribute to building a better world for the dispossessed, displaced and underprivileged.

From 1990 to 1995, I was involved in a Bible translation project for the Pemon tribe in Venezuela. At the beginning of 2012 I joined Editorial Renuevo, where I became a bilingual editor of books, which we published once a month, mostly in Spanish. Later our company committed to publishing each book in both Spanish and English versions. My skills include MS Word, creating macros in Word, Excel and Access, editing Spanish and English and translations from one to the other. I also assigned editing and translation projects to off-site workers and held weekly online meetings to keep us all sharp in our skills. I learned to program databases in Filemaker Pro, using them to help me stay in control of the department.

I am a freelance translator since 2009 and a Medical Doctor since 1982. I built my professional career at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana at Bogota, Colombia and I specialized in Health Management at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano also at Bogota. I was raised and lived in the United States territory during primary school through the first semester of college. I directed the health area of a medical second opinion company. One of my duties was to gather and translate medical records (including test and imaging reports). Then, I had to translate them from Spanish to English and send them to an interdisciplinary group of expert, specialized doctors, in the United States. Then, when the experts delivered their assessment reports and management suggestions I translated them from English to Spanish. This report included some articles published in medical journals that supported the reports. As the company grew, we hired other translators, and I added to my responsibilities the proofreading of their translations. As well as my experience in health, I have worked as a freelance translator for several companies; during the last four months, I have translated more than 400,000 words. Among my clients are The Language Doctors, Latitude Prime, Jorge Vargas, Lingosphere, Flix Translations and others. I am now retired from clinical activities and have decided to commit my work time to translating in a timely fashion, with good precision and quality. I am a Freelance Translator, at your service on your aim to reach people beyond borders and cultural differences by bringing down the language barriers through translation.
